All three perimeter players are out high, leaving PF and C alone on the baseline. PF can feed the ball into C, or begin a two-on-two game with C. If neither option is open, PF passes out to PG who moves the ball to SF at the tops of the key (Diagram B). C then sets a pick for PF and rolls to the basket after screening. PF sets up his defender with a v-cut and breaks off the screen across the lane. If the defense switches, SF can find C sealing off the lane. If the defense remains in a man-to-man, PF should be ahead of the defender breaking across the lane.

The point guard (PG) moves over to set a screen for the shooting guard (SG). The center (C) sets a secondary screen to pick off SG's defender if he fights through the screen or if there is a switch. SG breaks off the screens looking for the inbound pass and looks for the quick jumper. If it is not open, SG looks to the lane where C has rolled off the screen, or to the power forward (PF) who has cut to the lane from the low post. If this does not produce the desired results, the action continues as illustrated in Diagram B.

PG may hit SG coming off the screen, or find C, who can either turn for the jumper or deliver the ball to SG. The third choice is shown in Diagram C. SG passes to SF in the corner. As the pass is made, C moves across the lane and sets a pick for the inbounder. SG loops around the screen looking for the return pass from SF and slips into the lane for a jumper. Coaching Point: The inbounder should look specifically to the three options in the order listed above. Page 64 Drill #52: Multiple Choice Objective: To safely inbound the ball using a diamond set.
